Malabar Fish Curry Recipe

Malabar Fish Curry is a well-known fish dish from the Malabar district of Kerala, India. It is made with coconut milk, flavors, and an assortment of fish. Here is a recipe to make Malabar Fish Curry at home:

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of fish, cut into pieces
  • 1 onion, finely hacked
  • 2 tomatoes, finely hacked
  • 2 green chilies, cut
  • 1/2 cup thick coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup flimsy coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon ginger glue
  • 1 teaspoon garlic glue
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon red stew powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • Curry leaves, for embellish


Instructions:

In a dish, heat coconut oil over medium intensity. Add onions and green chilies. Sauté until onions turn clear.

Add ginger-garlic glue and sauté briefly.

Add turmeric powder, red stew powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Blend well.

Add hacked tomatoes and cook until they turn delicate and soft.

Add dainty coconut milk and heat it to the point of boiling.

Add the fish pieces and let it cook for 5-6 minutes.

Add thick coconut milk and stew for another 2-3 minutes. Be mindful so as not to overcook the fish.

Embellish with curry leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
